After reading LaMott’s shitty first draft I realize that I can make a lot of connection to the Monomyth. It did take a little thinking but once it came to me, it was like a light turned on. This is really neat how you can make connections to the reading and to the Monomyth.
In LaMott’s reading you see her explain how writers don’t just sit down and write something. That when they write it just doesn’t come out perfectly, that it takes a lot of time and effort and that it’s kind of a never ending cycle. This resembles the Monomyth a lot because you have the call to write but you can choose to accept or decline the call. If you then choose to write or your call you may go through a road of trials such as writer’s block, or you may just not like what you wirte. So then you want to give up but you maybe lucky enough to findĀ inspiration to your story also known as supernatural aid. These are just a few similarities of the writing process and the Monomyth. I’m sure if we really sat back and thought about it I’m positive we could find a way to similarities in the Monomyth and the writing at every stage.
This honestly is really neat to be able to put what we have been learning into an everyday idea. The more and more I look around I see just how much the Monoyth plays into our lives.
